EDN Atelier ‘Meeting Grounds’ in Barcelona (Spain) on 5 & 6 July 2021

Meeting grounds is a gathering about contemporary performing arts, thinking in/out Africa. Mercat de les Flors casa de la dansa and Graner creation center for dance and live arts, in the context of Grec festival of Barcelona, propose an Atelier with discussions, panels and practices. A hybrid atelier with a face-to-face and an online programme, in collaboration with and the participation of curators, artists, journalists such as Aida Colmenero, Qudus Onikeko, Nelisiwe Xaba, Panaibra Gabriel, Claudia Brufau, Antonio Tavares among others.

EDN Atelier ‘Creation of dance work - producing in different contexts, economies and conditions’ in Helsinki (Finland) on 22 & 23 July 2021

With the arrival of a 700 seat venue in Helsinki, the team at Tanssin Talo will host a dialogue with European and international colleagues to unpack the diverse potentials and issues concerning creating and presenting dance for larger stages, especially after Covid-19. The Atelier invites professionals to explore this topic through workshops and talks. Key questions guiding the dialogues are: Best practices for supporting new creations for large scale stages? How to enable a new generation of choreographers to make work for larger stages? How can the contemporary (current) emphasis on process based working methods, intimate encounters with audience and participation, be supported and developed on a larger scale? What kinds of collaborations are needed in the future for co-producing and touring for larger scale?
