Arts of an Ending

In his keynote Arts of an ending, Roberto Fratini asked, in which measure could we speak about many of the formats and aesthetic sets of value promoted by contemporary dance and performance in the last 20 years as the expressions of the general feeling of our time as a “terminal” one? And in which sense a somewhat performative idea of culture, so central in our late postmodernity, is a fundamental contribution to the strange “inflation of an ending” which postmodernity actually is?

Roberto Fratini is a theoretician and dramaturge for contemporary dance. He is professor of Dance Theory at the Conservatory Superior de Dansa in Barcelona and offers on a regular basis conferences and workshops on Dramaturgical methodologies and on theoretical issues in many different academic and theatrical institutions all over Europe.
