Eddie Nixon and Chris Thomson talked about how The Place worked on audience learning as a tool for audience development and discussed some of the things they considered when making the films of the Planet Dance project. They decided to commission dance writer and critic Sanjoy Roy and animator Magali Charrier to create a short series of films introducing the world of dance. They asked them to combine gentle humour and real ideas, to be light-hearted but not lightweight.
