Encounter the local dance scene in Timișoara, European Capital of Culture 2023

AREAL | Space for choreographic development and the Center for Projects Timișoara are hosting the annual EDN network meeting in the context of their  international conference exploring the relationship between dance, burnout, equity, care and well-being.

EDN takes this opportunity to connect with underrepresented regions within the network (and the field), by inviting representatives of dance organisations to join the Encounter visitors program.

"Dancing from Burnout towards Equity"

Taking place between June 29-30 2023, in Timișoara, the conference welcomes dance makers, cultural managers, and representatives of dance organisations in Europe or abroad to co-create a space for conversation, exchange and networking around relevant post-pandemic topics.

The participants will have the chance to explore the vibrant city of Timișoara and discover the Romanian contemporary dance scene through a dense programme of presentations, talks, new performances and premieres, video projections and free dance sessions.

The DANCE™ conference - Dance. Audience. Network. Care. Encounter - is part of the national cultural programme "Timișoara - European Capital of Culture in the year 2023" and is funded by the City of Timișoara through the Center for Projects. An event part of the AREAL - space for cultural development, program co-funded by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund.

EDN General Assembly & Think-In

In connection to the event, the EDN members are traveling to Timișoara for the network's annual General Assembly and the Think-In strategic planning meeting, hosted by AREAL | Space for choreographic development together with Centre for Projects Timișoara on 27 & 28 June 2023.

During the two-days, the network members will have an opportunity to share the most important news from their dancehouses and local contemporary dance scenes, comment on the latest developments, as well as take active part in formulating the network's advocacy strategy and the mapping of equitable practices in contemporary dance.

The EDN Think-In will be the opportunity for members and invited dance professionals to actively contribute to EDNext’s campaign during a Research and Advocacy Meeting. The topic of the EDNext 2023 research is "equity" and has been approached from different angles at EDN activities throughout the year. At the Think-In, EDN invites all participants to share their knowledge and experience for the research leading up to a publication in autumn 2023. Participants will also have the opportunity to share their know-how on the topic of "well-being" which will be EDN's research theme in 2024.
