The European Commission has launched an Open Call for Good Practices on School and Culture Collaborations for Citizenship Education. Through this call, they are looking to collect examples of initiatives where schools and cultural organisations work together to strengthen young people’s sense of democracy, rights, and civic participation.

The call is open to artists, cultural organisations, educators, and institutions who have developed projects that bring culture into schools or build bridges between the classroom and society.

Submissions should describe how the project was designed and implemented, who was involved, the methods used, and what outcomes were achieved in terms of empowering young people as active citizens. There is also space to share challenges faced and lessons learned, as well as supporting material such as documentation or images.

The survey is available in all EU languages and contains both mandatory and optional questions, allowing contributors to decide how much detail to provide. The deadline for submissions is 31 October 2025.

By responding to this call, practitioners not only give visibility to their work but also contribute to a wider pool of knowledge that will inform European policy, support peer learning, and highlight the impact of culture in education. This initiative will help identify effective practices, strengthen cross-sector collaboration, and showcase the role of the arts in building more democratic and inclusive societies.

EDN's YOUNG Working Group

This initiative resonates strongly with the work of EDN’s YOUNG Working Group, which focuses on how dance and the performing arts engage with children and young people.

The group explores new ways to connect dance with education, wellbeing, and community building, and it highlights how artistic practices can foster participation, agency, and social responsibility.

By aligning with partner initiatives, EDN’s YOUNG Working Group strengthens its mission to advocate for meaningful, youth-centered approaches in the performing arts across Europe.
