𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿: 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀

EDN joins over 20 cultural and media organisations, networks, projects, and platforms from across Europe who benefit from EU support. Together, we urge the European Commission and the Creative Europe programme to address the growing risks posed by the unchecked power of major tech corporations.

As social media platforms and corporate-controlled digital tools increasingly dominate the digital landscape—raising serious ethical and monopolistic concerns—we believe this is a critical moment for European institutions to act.

We call on the Commission to recognise this turning point and take meaningful steps toward ensuring digital independence for Europe’s cultural and media sectors. This includes safeguarding diversity, promoting ethical alternatives, and reducing dependence on dominant tech platforms.
