The European Dance Development Network (EDN) joined the high-level roundtable Culture in the Next EU Budget in Brussels on 23 September 2025.

The meeting, organised in response to the European Commission’s proposal for the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), brought together cultural stakeholders, Members of the European Parliament, and EU institutions to debate the future of culture in the Union’s long-term budget.

EDN was represented by its Network Manager, Eva Broberg, who underlined the essential role of Creative Europe for the dance sector and the need for sustainable EU investment in dance, artistic experimentation and access to contemporary culture.

Speakers at the event included Nela Riehl (Chair of the CULT Committee), Hannes Heide (Rapporteur on the EU budget), and Carla Tavares (Co-rapporteur for the Parliament’s MFF report).

EDN's advocacy work highlights the importance of initiatives that foster dialogue between contemporary dance culture and EU policymakers, demonstrating how dance development organisations contribute to Europe’s democratic, inclusive, and future-oriented cultural landscape.
