Environmental Policy

EDN's Green Commitments

At EDN, we recognise the impact of human activity on the climate and are committed to reducing our ecological footprint.

Environmental sustainability is at the heart of our work, closely linked to social responsibility and economic resilience. We strive to integrate sustainability into everything we do, whether collaborating with partners, managing our operations, or supporting community members.

EDN's environmental policy outlines our key focus areas and how we address them. It has full support from our team and has been approved by our Board.

In 2022, EDN's research publication on Environmental Sustainability in Contemporary Dance offered key recommendations for reducing our environmental impact. This policy builds on those insights, turning them into action for a greener future.

EDN's Environmental Policy was reviewed and adopted on 25 September 2023 as part of the SHIFT eco-certification.

SHIFT Eco Certificate

EDN is proud to be among the cultural networks that have successfully achieved SHIFT Culture eco-certification for the third year running.

Through the SHIFT project, 17 networks have implemented eco-guidelines designed specifically for cultural associations. Each network followed both mandatory and optional guidelines, underwent peer audits, and engaged in an online development workshop. The final certification was awarded after an independent audit conducted by Vector42, ensuring transparency and credibility in the process.

Why Eco-Certification Matters for EDN

As a network dedicated to supporting dance professionals and organisations across Europe, we understand the environmental impact of our activities, particularly related to travel. Sustainability is at the core of our values, and this certification underscores our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and fostering climate-conscious practices within the dance community.
