Encounter in Japan

Follow-up visit to Yokohama

Inspired by the structure and efficacy of EDN, representatives of the Asian dance field established the Asian Network for Dance+ (AND+) in 2017 in order to support and promote dance in the Asian context. Since then, a fruitful exchange between the two networks has been established with different encounters and formal and informal meetings. To consolidate this relationship, explore dance in different contexts and to investigate possible collaborations between Asia and Europe, this encounter in Yokohama, Japan, is organised.

This Atelier at Lavanderia a Vapore (Torino, Italy) collects and connects some of the best audience-oriented practices of the last years and researches how dance can be a device to include people in a social and innovative process. Building on the Atelier in Bassano del Grappa in August 2018, it explores how cultural innovation can transform the concept of audience into the broader concept of citizens, and how this can be a force for active and democratic participation within communities.
